In creating its digital presence, Kate Spade has managed to convert the je ne sais quoi of its meticulously designed physical visual merchandising (read: eye-catching store windows in SoHo and on Fifth Avenue) and products into a decidedly on-brand experience. Using its blog, which is integrated prominently into its main e-commerce site, as well as varied social media presences, the Kate Spade team has developed and maintained a voice and visual point of view that reinforce the brand while avoiding heavy-handedness.
Branding, and the same theme for every platform they build a presence on: colorfoul collages of products, articles and media curated by their team. A publishing model that works.
When Kate Spade picks a direction, it goes with it, and all its content channels reinforce the same seasonal focus. It utilizes that same collage-like approach for its boards on Pinterest, which is perhaps the most well-suited platform for fashion brands to share its inspirations, and the pattern du jour, stripes, abounds. The Kate Spade Tumblr (also organized as a collage) takes the theme one step further, providing the shareable added bonus of downloadable iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, and computer desktops in –you guessed it – stripes. And, of course, Kate Spade’s Twitter page is decked out in a striped background.

Planning to make a joke on Twitter about bombing something? You might want to reconsider: according to a report from Britain, two British tourists were detained and then denied entry into the U.S. recently after they joked about destroying America and digging up Marilyn Monroe. The fact that the Department of Homeland Security and other authorities — including the FBI — are monitoring social media like Twitter and Facebook isn’t that surprising.
The FBI is looking for curation tools to curate Facebook, MySpace and Twitter... maybe the current tools fail authorities, as we can see!
Don't they do some background profiling before arresting and questioning people btw? Here was the joke... you'll be the judge:
He had posted on his Tweeter website account that he was coming to the United States to dig up the grave of Marilyn Monroe… Also on his tweeter account Mr Bryan posted that he was coming to destroy America.
In one way, i am glad the FBI, homeland security and anti-terrorism units from all around the world keep a close eye on what's being said or shared online, on the other end, i feel like i am being watched by Google, Facebook, my cell phone company, my car GPS, and now THEM on top of it... there is no more privacy, really.
Twitter will unveil a series of new tools in the next few months, including sophisticated analytical tools, according to Erica Anderson, Twitter's manager for news and journalism.
Anderson said the analytical tools will better help publishers track the reach of tweets sent through the microblogging service. She made her comments Saturday at Columbia University's social media weekend in New York....
Anderson mentioned the new tools in passing when asked by an audience member about what was next. As described, the tools sound similar to analytical services provided by third-party firms likeHootSuite and SocialFlow.
She did not make it clear if the new analytical tools will include some features aimed at spotting trends.
This is a pretty big deal, something to watch closely.
Summify, a startup that uses social data to create a personalized news digest, just announced that it has been acquired by Twitter. This sounds like a talent acquisition on Twitter's part — in other words, the main purpose of the acquisition was probably hiring the Summify team. Some of Summify's feature have been immediately disabled, it's no longer accepting new users, and in a few weeks, Summify says it will shut down the current product entirely. Meanwhile, the startup will be moving from Vancouver to San Francisco to work out of the Twitter office.
Great service. Smart guys behind it. Twitter bought brains more than code.
Ashton Kutcher's Twiiter account was hacked over the weekend and Kutcher has sworn revenge, which he just might get.
Funny Kutcher's got friends - hackers should be careful!
Kutcher got wise to the hack and took down the tweets from his feed, which is followed by more than 9 million people. That’s when things got interesting. The hacker also broke into Kutcher’s Foursquare account, however, and in doing so the hacker also revealed his or her own location. Kutcher responded with the tweet, which includes an image of the hacker’s Foursquare account:
I've often spoken to the editorial nature of what i think my job is, I think i'm just an editor, and i think every CEO is an editor. I think every leader in any company is an editor. Taking all these ideas and you're editing them down to one cohesive story, and in my case, my job is to edit the team...
Twitter is a powerful platform for websites to share their content, and drive traffic and engagement. However, people have struggled to accurately measure the amount of traffic Twitter is sending to their websites, in part because web analytics software hasn’t evolved as quickly as online sharing and social signals.
Funny as hell!
Turns out it's not just news organizations that are grappling with proper Twitter etiquette for their employees. The U.S. Secret Service has also hit a social media snag, via an all-too-candid tweet on Fox News that forced the agency to issue a rare official apology. And to compound the Secret Service's very bad week on [...]
Epic!!
Great guide! Nice curation.
Seriously, 1,568th time down?
