I host with Anchor, but we've also got 3x dedicated servers so they're more suitable for business applications. Their plans start at $16.50 per month, so I know they're not the cheapest around.
Hope you get some good feedback. I've really been meaning to look at doing a post about it - but would require a lot of research :(
I host with Hostgator for 10$ a month. Must say its one heck of a deal, and im very satisfied with what they offer.
See for yourself: www.hostgator.com
I have a Aussie VPS with Netlogistics. Their service is amazing, have been with them 12mths+ and couldn't be happier.
They have Aussie and US servers.
I guess there's 2 camps in the comments I've received above. One - people who need a dedicated or virtual private server. I'm not in that camp. I'm in the, I've got 2-3 websites that don't have much traffic so don't need anything too fancy at this stage. The Hostgator/Dreamhost/Bluehost shared hosting plans will probably cater for my needs at this time.
I use Hostgator too on a $10 plan (unlimited domains and subdomains) and have been very pleased with them. I have about 15 sites with them. I moved over from an Aussie host that was more expensive and less reliable. I have not needed a dedicated server
Ummm, this is all very interesting. It would seem I may be paying too much. I host with my Australian web developer.
Anchor has been recommended by our wordpress guru.
This is worse than going into a cake shop to chose something yummy - I always leave empty handed because I just can't work out which one is the best! Doesn't that sound like the current political state as well.
I host with icdsoft in the US and I recommend them pretty highly. They're cheap but more importantly their customer service has been excellent the few times I've needed it in the last couple of years. As Meg said though, it depends on your requirements.
Hostgator works for me. Good price and unlimited domains hosted. While i would love to support an aussie host, they tend to cost a lot more while offering a lot less than overseas equivalents
I'm hosting with Media Temple who offer a kind of grid service - if one server is overloaded others pick up the load.
