One thing I learned from Affiliate Summit (Thanks for the tag Carsten :D)...
is not to exclude anyone at the summit. Regardless if the person sitting next to you is a publisher, a merchant, or a network representative, be polite and go out to network. Never know who you will meet or what the future opportunity holds, be genuine, be kind and be yourself. Summit is a networking event not only for you to grow your business with publishers but it can also be a strategy relationship for your company. As a merchant at the summit, I looked at publishers as people, not just the color of their name tags. I met so many affiliate managers in Miami and have established several partnerships since then.
I think the worst fear for an affiliate manager is when publishers know who you are and start running away from you. Affiliate marketing is all about relationship and how you, an affiliate manager, can hold down your fort with the publishers. One on one time is a very important attribute of networking and we should discipline ourselves with appropriate behaviors.
Well hidden response Stefanie. "Well hidden" as in "Well" and "Well hidden" hehe. I added a direct link to it to the blog post at ReveNews.com :).
Cheers!
