Responding to pressure from the media, the public and health professionals the Australian National Drugs and Poisons Schedule Committee (NDPSC) will consider rescheduling zolpidem, at their meetings on the 19 to the 21st February 2008. The proposal is to reclassify it as a "Controlled Drug" , which will give it the same legal status as morphine, codeine, dexamphetamine and Ritalin.
