Some Minor BUMPzee Widget Changes
While I was in tweaking performance in the BUMPzee widget, I made a few simple changes…
First, you may have noticed that your own avatar picture appears in the recent visitors. Originally I designed it to not show the blog owner in the visitors. I’m not sure why. I think I noticed that MBL wasn’t showing it. I say why not?
If this bugs you and you want it the old way, please speak up.
Second, Stephen Cronin posted today about using iframes to speed up slow widgets (guilty), including his own implementation of a wordpress plugin to wrap iframes around widgets. There was a problem with the BZ widget in that clicks were staying inside the widget. So I added target=”_top” to the links in the widget so that it would open links in the main window, not in an iframe. I can’t imagine any bad effects from this, but if you see any, again let me know.

Thanks again for your response to my post. I find it quite amazing to get such a supportive, proactive and quick response. I hope people appreciate what you are doing here at BUMPzee and the work you have put into it. It’s very easy for us end users to take it all for granted and start getting upset about slow widgets.

I thought when I saw my own picture on my blog it was a bug or something. I like it either way.
I sure I have asked you this before. Will it ever be possible to set some sort of filtering for the widget? I thinking it would be much easier to promote particular communities if for example on my widget I can show top entries only from one community.
Sorry to sound like broken record. If it is not possible, I will just shut up.

I know I also sound like a broken record when I say it’s on the list. Unfortunately, we haven’t quite been able to get back in to cranking out new features yet on BZ.
At MechMedia, October is our busiest month of the year. Things will settle down in the next few weeks a little and we can start planning on some Bumpzee improvements.

Just checking in to see what’s new on BumpZee. Scott, I am not sure if any one else reported this to you, but the widget takes way too long to load these days. I actually had to disable the plugin for a few hours the other day.

I was wondering when the BUMPzee button will be compatable with blogspot/blogger. I think BZ is a great service with great ideas but the features that make it unique are not supported on my blogging platform.
