New Widget Features: Stats and Popular Posts
We’ve added some brand-new features to the BUMPzee sidebar widget.
Cool stuff that tells you more about your own blog traffic.

Stats
There’s a new section at the bottom of all widgets, even without reconfiguring: Quick stats. Visible ONLY to the owner of the blog if you’re currently logged in to BUMPzee, are some simple stats for the page you’re looking at and your blog as a whole, comparing today and yesterday.
We’ll be launching this in all sidebar widgets soon, so keep an eye out!
This will appear at the bottom of every sidebar widget regardless of configuration. Again, it’s not visible to your visitors, only you. See over to the right, the green widget for this blog, no stats.
Top Posts
Let your users see the most viewed posts in the past 7 days. You can configure this to show up to 20 recent posts.
Visitors Online Now
See how many people are looking at your blog right now.
And the old stuff…
Recent Visitors
You can configure this to show a few or many visitors in a list or in a grid.
Top Entries
See the most bumped entries in all the communities your blog is included in. You can configure this to show as many entries as you want.
Widget Generator
Customize the widget to your hearts content with the widget generator. Choose colors, which items to show, how many in each. Make a big wide widget. Make a narrow one.
If you use the Wordpress Plugin, you’ll need to upgrade the plugin to version 0.21 to get the new features and use the widget generator. Download the new plugin here.
Or if you prefer to grab some javascript, you can get it right on the widget generator page in addition to the custom plugin function call.
Have fun! Pimp your widget!

Awesome new features Scott. You ROCK!
Tiny little feature request and maybe you can tell me how to do it in my javascript without re-coding the widget, although possibly other may want this feature too.
In order to fit in my current sidebar I have to take width down to 180. SO this line “Most Popular Posts (past week)” does not fit and pushes the word week down to a 2nd line looking funky and taking unnecessary space.
It would be nice to be able to customize the words in that line to fit our site and style. If I could customize it myself I’d want to say “Popular 5 Star Posts” and not even say past week or possibly just Recent Popular Posts, don’t think noting they are in the past week is necessarily important enough to warrant the extra space.
Thanks for all you do!

Good point Linda, I meant to clean up that text before setting it loose.
I’ll get rid of the “(past week)” and later work on allowing you to customize that text.

I leave for a couple hours, come back and it’s fixed.
You’re not only good but FAST!
I’m having my WP theme tweaked this weekend to add a 2nd sidebar and one of the main things I’ll be doing when I get things moved around is to move Bumpzee up higher and push MyblogLog down. With the popular posts added to the widget I want it up where people can see it.
Thanks again, Scott!

Thanks again Scott!

This is good news.
But, could you use UTF-8 charset in this widget. If someone use a other language such as Russian, instead a titles I see something like this
Ðод Ðелевина â ÑаÑÑиÑÑовка «ШлеЅ

sidewinder, yes, I’m working on that. It’s a challenge to get that stuff right living here in an english world.

how do I add the bumpzee widget to a wordpress.com blog - you can’t have javascript?… I don’t know much about bumpzee but I am guessing I need the widget to get full benefits.
MyBlogLog has a similar widget but is available non-javascript. Am I able to get one of these for Bumpzee please.
You will be missing out on a lot of members because of only javascript (that’s if I am correct that it is only javascript).

Hi Goldcoaster,
Hmm. . .it doesn’t look like there is a straight forward way to do this with Wordpress.com, it’s fairly simple with a Wordpress powered site on your own domain, because you have the option to Modify the template files, thus I just dropped in the Widgit code to my Sidebar and walla, but with Wordpress.Com, there doesn’t seem to be a way to do this. . .
You may try submitting a request to Wordpress.com and see what they say.
Anyone else have some ideas?

New Request!
Is there any possibility that there can be a widgit that lists the Bumpzee community of choice? That way any bumpzee member can list their friends and their bumpzee blogs right from their sidebar?
Thanks for thinking about this!

Yeah, wordpress.com simply doesn’t allow Javascript. It is a security issue and they’ve opted to not allow their bloggers to post any at all. it’s a shame.
C, please give me more detail on what you mean by “lists the bumpzee community”.
So you choose a community, and what does the widget contain?

I too am hosted by Wordpress but wish like the other posters than BUMPzee could create a non javascript widget just like MyBlogLog have done so successfully. It’s nor fair! (she said going off to sulk)
