Converting BUMPzee to UTC
A poor design decision (actually it was a non-decision) from the the beginning has us doing a mid-stream correction on the timezone used for storing dates in BUMPzee.
As of this morning, all dates and times will be stored in UTC. And at least for the time being, they’ll be displayed that way as well. We may implement a way for users to specify the display timezone, but we’ll see if that’s necessary.
I have not converted the old dates (not sure if I’m going to bother tackling that). If you see some strange sorting until we can get a few hours past the mix of EST and UCT, that’s why.
I should have slipped this in under the cover of the early Daylight Savings cutover this past weekend. Oh well.

How annoying is this!!??
I signup thinking wow this looks like a fun service thats a cross between Tyrannical DIGG and BlogLog cool. So I am signup and I see yup no community yet for me. No problem, I will create one. Wouldn’t be the first time.
Nope, no way to create a community. This is utter silliness. Save the central control and management for Web 1.0.
Not happy. I await your response Steve.

There’s no Steve here, I guess you mean me.
The service is merely two months old and we’ve been building new features and ramping up as quickly as possible. As a matter of fact, we’re starting to open it up this weekend to a few test communities and will be growing from there.
Keep an eye out on this blog for more info.

Scott,
I am looking forward to the new feature. Sounds cool.
I am not sure if any one else is noticing this but it looks like my widget (the side bar of my blog) shows different top entries than the BumpZee website. Is there some kind of delay in that respect?

So will those test communities include Web2?
A little more detail would be nice.
Thanks
Rog
PS Sorry about the name, I was nearly done writing and didn’t want to go back to double check. I was close!

Of course. like I said, we’re getting ready to announce new stuff. If I gave details, I’d be announcing it now! hang tight.
Vlad: some things are in flux right now, which is why you’re seeing that.
