BUMPzee Relaunch Reflections

It’s been a few days since we’ve launched the new interface.

Thanks to all of you who have informed me of bugs. I do appreciate it and fix them as quickly as I can. There were some bad ones that cropped up, preventing new blogs from being submitted and adding friends. If you ran into those issues, please try again.

The brunt of the work, believe it or not, was on the back-end, enabling the multiple communities. A pretty major redesign even though it was planned from the start.

It did force an interface redesign as well which we took a crack at. While the fancy new web 2.0 logo (with highlights and reflection) and the obligatory diagonal lines in the backgroud of the headers are nice, I’m not at all happy with the usability of the new interface. I find that switching between what I call the global area and the communities is a bit tedious and confusing and we’ll be working to improve that very soon. So if you’re frustrated by that, my apologies.

Otherwise, things are moving forward. Signups are increasing, and we’re bringing on new blogs, especially in the new SEO/SEM community. We’re also evaluating what’s next and I’m open to suggestions for the next community. (though I do want to fix the interface before any big push.)

Thanks again for your support, blogging, participation, and feedback.

I wonder if a newbie would feel the same way and it’s just becuase we are used to doing things the old way? Just a thought.

Here’s another… I would prefer NOT to have to switch between communities. Except maybe for browsing for new communites.

If I subscribe to 3 communities, then my newest entries page would show all three combined.

Also my Top BUMPS page would show all three communities I’m subscribed to combined.

Bumpzee would be personalized for the individual. Kinda like my own personal bumpzee.

It might also suck, just throwing it out there.
