Are you having a flutter on the race ????

Ohhhhh, we got first and second place in the sweep. Won a whole $30.10.
Funny story - many years ago when I was wooing my husband (and he was running away from me) I asked him, repeatedly, to give me Melbourne Cup tips (his family are serious horse people). I was a single Mum, struggling to make ends meet and wrongly thought that a win would help me. Keen to get rid of me, my now darling husband, suggested I go to the TAB and put $10 on Pale Face Amigo, Phar Lap and Kingston Town.
I did exactly that. I have never been back into a TAB since that day. I was so embarrassed when the staff and people behind me in the line laughed at me. I knew something was wrong, but just didn't get it.
I believed and trusted him. I married him this March past because I am a very forgiving person....maybe!
Nice story ! He did you a big, big favour :) BTW, I haven't seen the word "woo" written in yonks. These days it's more track, stalk, seduce and trap. Is "woo" short-hand for all that ? :)
This year I didn't have a bet, didn't listen to the race and didn't think very much at all about the Melbourne Cup at all.
Judging from the lower than last year TAB and track betting results, many people pushed the cup into the "not important" basket.
I suspect the ever-too-long election race coupled with the equine flu disaster put a lot of people off the cup this year. And why not, after all, it's just a horse race.
I am always amazed at the hype for a five minute race. Very Aussie however. In our office, everything stops, you grab a beer, watch the race, eat some snacks and then most people went back to work. Me I went home.
hi Riayn......7th place has to be better than last :)
that's too funny Megan....I had to think twice when I saw that first name too ..it sort of didn't register at first....LOL
you should send him out for a left handed screwdriver :0
oh Squadron...just a horse race !!!!.....
you are joking?????
not for me ...I came out ahead $650 ahead...and I only ever put a bet on once a year :D
hi Cluttabella....I think sometimes it depends on where you are for the race .....my most memorable ones have been at home in front of the TV ...:)
