This might be the most important blog post I will ever write here on the blog. I ask everyone to link to it, stumble it, digg it, do anything you can to get this post in front of people - the more people who read it, the more likely they will throw o ... read more |
Eye opening post regarding the excessive water consumption of a top loader compared to a front loading washing machine. In water deficit Australia, wearing clean clothes is no longer just about Sunday's washing day or separating colours from whites.
Bloody hell Snooky - I cannot get the amount of water I've wasted out of my head!
We have had only front loaders for the last ten years in five houses in three continents. Yeah Front Loaders. Now how about reducing the use of dryers.
I have to use a front load washing machine for the simple fact that I am on tank water. I can't afford to buy water once a month, like I would have to if I had a top loader. Do you know how much washing comes with children? Ugh.
My girlfriend and I have been using a front loader for the past 7 years, plus we have one of those water reduction shower heads. We also put a bucket under the shower when we are adjusting the temperature which we then use to water our garden. We are kinda water saving mad in our household, but you have to be these days.
Wow what a ripper post. I am going to link to it from my Water Conservation for the Garden post.
