Fed up with the election?

I must say I've had enough of this election campaign.

I live in Kevin Rudd's electorate and I'm so fed up with the bullshit from both sides that I'm inclined to vote for the serial pest named PM Howard who happens to be running as an independant.

What happened to the vision thing? It's all so "what's in it for me" this time.

I'd have a lot more respect for any party that said: "Hey guys, we're doing pretty well. All that surplus of yours we are going to invest in infrastructure. Stuff like roads, and schools, and hospitals, and ports and electricity grids. And the money we save from getting the hell out of Iraq and Afghanistan, we'll put that into something useful like solar power.

Remember, governments don't spend their money, they spend our money.

What a shame there are no parties saying that... and have the sound economic policies and plans to make it work.

Is it just me or do others have the feeling that, doesn't matter who wins, we're screwed?

I want to vote for Antony Green. Once every 4 years (twice really because most states get to see him with the state elections) I get to enjoy his company for an evening, him and his laptop and his little graphs and swings and predictions.

He's the only person involved with politics who is worthy of voting for!

The rest of them can take a flying leap.

I'm actually quite worried about the Labor policy to ratify Kyoto - I notice there's no further mention of cost to implement it and reach the targets - which incidentally start next year. Or any intetnion in the Labor offical policy document on the actual target.

And then I see NZ is in $1bn worth of debt because they ratified Kyoto - and how are they making that money back? taxing consumers. 19% on coal fired electricity. That sounds like sound economic management to me...

Ok, off today's soapbox now ;-)

Economic conservatism from the left - omg has there been some heated debates in the household (well, I'm a social worker and he's an accountant).

Yes, lets save the planet by switching off the TV's and the boring, same old, election words recycled to sound different.

I'll vote and that is all I will do for this election.

While Australia literally fuc*s over our kids, the federal politicians have done little to address an issue that would surely win them votes if handled correctly. If they talk about child abuse, I'll switch the TV back on and be less apathetic.

I already know who I'm voting for, and why. I don't need to be lied to anymore because I'm quite likely to change my mind and waste my vote as a protest to being treated like an idiot.

It's a pity we can't pick and choose people from all parties and make up a first 11 type of government with the second-place getters forming the opposition (the second 11). And the outgoing government becomes the Senate.

I have some respect for people from most of the major parties. For example: Bob Brown for Environment Minister, Julia Gillard for Health, Peter Costello for Treasury, Kevin Rudd for Foreign Affairs, Malcolm Turnbull for PM and so forth.

This dumbed-down party system really sucks.
